Born in Miyagi prefecture, Japan, raised in Osaka and Kyoto, Choco grew up in a musical environment. Deeply influenced by her father, a classical pianist, Choco started performing as a solo artist in1996. Covering various R&B and Jazz songs, she performed in nightclubs and bars in the Kansai area, focusing on Kyoto.
Choco became profoundly intrigued with other cultures and countries as she was exposed to English lyrics. In 1998 she enrolled in Seian University of Art and Design in Shiga prefecture, but decided to leave school and go abroad to further her musical knowledge in America.
In 1999, after living in San Francisco and Los Angeles, she entered Berklee Collage of Music in Boston. In 2003 after graduating from Berklee, Choco moved to New York City where she started a wide range of activities such as producing and supporting a variety of performing arts shows. In addition, Choco also worked as an interpreter and negotiator, as well as promoting and managing artists and performers in New York.
With a strong desire to support those who have difficulty communicating in English, she started an English interpreting and translation service in 2006 forming ISURUGI ACE Productions. In addition to providing music lessons to children, Choco is acting as an English instructor and operating ISURUGI ACE Productions offering interpreting, translation, visa consultation and support for artists, musicians and dancers in the U.S.
